• KLA has leased 10,000 Hectares of land for farming in Tete Province in Mozambique at the banks of perennial river Zambezi.


• Mozambique has got the suitable land for farming of various crops like rice (paddy), beans, legumes and other vegetables. Even then it is importing rice which is draining its FOREX while it has the potential to become net exporter of rice.


• It has the semi-trained manpower, electricity and supportive administration.


• All resources have to be put into place, and it could be a model for best farming.


• KLA has got the right team and Mozambique has got the right resources.

Advantages

• KLA will bring the knowledge of farming of rice (paddy)


• KLA can train the local manpower to produce the rice.
• In the next phase when sufficient produce is available, we can go for setting up the rice processing unit which will move the manpower to next level of expertise.


• Open base for other ancillary food-processing industry like Rice Bran Solvent Extraction plant, this will be raw-material for dairy industry, power generation from rice husk and other agro-industries like frozen vegetables.


• Water: Our project is at the banks of river Zambezi downstream of Cohora Bassa Hydropower dam. This river is Africa’s 4th longest perennial river and drains into Indian Ocean. As the project is based on downstream and it eventually drains into Indian Ocean, the water availability is ensured throughout the year.


• Transportation: Due to big coal reserves in Tete Province, railway line is built along river Zambezi and Mutarara (location of our project) is the junction which connects it to biggest port Beira of Mozambique. Railway line gives cheap connectivity to port and other SADC countries.


• More market: Mozambique borders 6 SADC countries (more than any other country in SADC) and thus the market access to sell the products is very easy.


• South Africa: The biggest advantage is common border with South Africa. South Africa is the gateway to entire African continent for any technology, seeds, fertilizer, agri-equipments. The vicinity to South Africa ensures easy access to all.


• Due to developed economy of South Africa, it offers market for agri-products as and when the project will expand in near future.


• The international airport Johannesburg is just 2 hours from Tete, the province where the project is located. Johannesburg connects to whole world and thus brings this farm at the doorstep of whole world.
